About Us
At FARMStay, you can join in on daily activities that deepen your connection to the land. Whether it’s feeding animals, milking cows, or harvesting crops, each task offers both educational value and a rewarding hands-on experience. Our farm's diverse animal family includes free-range chickens, ducks, geese, cows, goats, donkeys, and even bees—each playing a vital role in maintaining the farm’s balance. Start your day by gathering fresh eggs from our free-roaming chickens, who help improve soil health as they forage. Feed the ducks and geese near our fishing pond, and observe the peaceful interaction between the animals and their environment. Our donkeys assist with transporting light goods around the farm, while the bees help pollinate crops, ensuring a fruitful harvest each season. Our goats provide fresh, creamy milk, perfect for enjoying as-is or for use in cheese-making workshops. The majestic acacia trees on the farm are more than just scenic—they help purify the air, provide cooling shade, and support local wildlife, contributing to the overall health of the land.
Fishing Pond
One of the farm’s standout features is its fishing pond, which hosts a variety of fish species including lungfish (mamba) and African eel (maale), both introduced from the nearby River Mayanya. We’ve also added tilapia to enhance the ecosystem, allowing visitors to learn about sustainable fishing practices. You can sit by the tranquil pond or join us in maintaining a healthy, balanced fish population.
Biodiverse Crops and Irrigation
The farm is also home to a variety of crops and plants. We grow coffee, pineapples, soursop, and the Mbidde variety of bananas, as well as Gonja, another local banana type. These crops are integral to the farm’s biodiversity and sustainability practices. With the help of irrigation systems, we ensure that the crops thrive year-round, even during the dry season, while conserving water resources.
Aromatic Herbs and Healing Plants
Beyond staple crops, FARMStay boasts an array of aromatic herbs and medicinal plants, such as lavender, jasmine, lemon mint, apple mint, coriander, curry leaves, rue, and catnip. These herbs are used in natural remedies and culinary creations, and visitors can learn about their health benefits as they stroll through the herb garden. The garden is a peaceful spot, perfect for quiet reflection amidst nature's healing aromas.
